Today I want to talk to you and taste with you a very rare wine that comes from what I think is the most spectacular wine region in the world, and one of the very most reputable ones: the Douro valley in Portugal. The Douro is where all the grapes for making the illustrious sweet Portuguese Port wines are produced, but top producers in the area also make some of the most extraordinary dry reds there as well. The vines are very old in the Douro, the terroir is exceptional, so why not making top dry red wines as well. This is the type of wine we’re talking about today, a Top producer in the area called Quinta do Vallado making as good a red wine as they can with their oldest vineyard on the best terroir, and bottling a very limited number of bottles to a few lucky customers.
