In 2017, Norway started a project to buy new main battle tanks (MBTs) to replace the used Leopard 2A4s purchased from the Netherlands in the early 2000s. Two candidates for the new MBT of Norwegian troops include Black Panther K2 of Hyundai Rotem (Korea) and Leopard 2A7 of Krauss-Maffei Wegman (KMW) from Germany.
Over the past four weeks, the Korean K2NO and the German Leopard 2A7NO tanks have been tested for maneuverability and firepower in the Norwegian winter.
