Miramar is the beach area of the Goan capital of Panjim, also known as Panaji and is one of the most visited beaches of Goa. It is one of the two only beaches in Panjim, other being Caranzalem beach.[1] Many people, mostly tourists, come to this beach every day.[2] Miramar Beach was the venue for Beach Volleyball events of the 2014 Lusofonia Games.[3] Originally named Porta de Gaspar Dias by the Portuguese, the name was then changed to Miramar.

Panjim witnesses maiden Jagannath Rath Yatra
PANJIM, JUNE 24 The State capital today witnessed the maiden Jagannath Rath Yatra, the world famous festival which is celebrated in Puri, Orissa.

The State capital today witnessed the maiden Jagannath Rath Yatra, the world famous festival which is celebrated in Puri, Orissa.
The yatra, organised by the All Goa Orissa Association along with ISKON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness)., saw a 24-foot tall chariot being pulled from Miramar to the ferry point near Hotel Mandovi.
The procession included one chariot with three deities � Balbhadra, Jagannath and Subhadra.
The chariot and deities were brought from Belgaum with the help of ISKON.
The procession started at Maruti temple near Miramar, where Chief Minister Digambar Kamat performed the puja thereafter it halted near Kala Academy where the Leader of Opposition, Manohar Parrikar performed the second puja and the last puja was performed at the ferry point by Rajesh Timblo, chairman of the Jagannath Temple Trust, on behalf of the Trust.
