Portugal Road Trip | From Porto to Faro in 15 days (2021)

This summer we went to Portugal to explore the Atlantic coast. In 15 days we drove with our rental car from Porto to Faro. And yes, of course I made a video of this beautiful road trip. As always, I took my drone to capture the most beautiful sights.

Our road trip started in Porto. We slept 3 nights in the center of Porto. From here we were able to walk towards the Douro River which divides the city in two. Both sides are connected by impressive bridges. You can walk at the highest point or at the bottom of the bridge. The streets and buildings in Porto are super colorful and you will stop at every street corner to take a picture. If you are in Porto, you must try a Pastel de Nata, the famous sweet egg tart pastry. Oh and eat Bacalhau! After Porto we drove to Aveiro. The roads are pretty good in Portugal, we arrived in less than an hour's drive. Ride the free bikes (Buga) in Aveiro to explore this small town. In my opinion more fun and much cheaper than by boat. The highlight of Aveiro is the beach of Costa Nova. Costa Nova is known for its colorful striped houses. The next stop on our road trip was Nazare. The streets in Nazare are narrow and steep. It requires good driving skills in the small town. We slept 1 night in Nazaré. The next morning we went to Praia do Norte to take a little walk on the cliffs. On our way to Lisbon we stopped at Peniche and Sintra for 4 days. In Peniche we surfed in perfect conditions. And Sintra should be on your bucket list. Not only the city and the architecture, but also Ursa Beach is breathtaking. Lisbon is around the corner from Sintra. Parking your car for a few days in the center of Lisbon is quite expensive. So we went to a hotel with a parking space included. Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is in my opinion one of the largest cities in Europe. I really like the colorful architecture, the old authentic trams, the steep and narrow streets and the food. Lisbon has plenty of miradouras (lookout points) that give great views of the city. After Lisbon we drove to the Algarve. Half way through we stopped at Vila Nova del Milfontes. The ideal place for water activities on the Mira River. From here we drove to Lagos where we slept for 3 nights. From Lagos we could easily visit a few places on our list. Places such as Bordeira beach, Sagres, Ponta da Piedade. The last days of our road trip we spent our time in Faro. We had a blast in Portugal and it exceeded all our expectations, and will definitely come back here!
