Huangling village, China's most beautiful symbol

Huangling village, located in Wuyuan county, Jiangxi province, is an ancient village surrounded by green mountains.

It has long been a hot destination for tourists, painters and photographers with its picturesque terraces, seas of rape flowers in spring and colorful harvests in autumn.

The typical Hui-style houses, featuring black roof tiles and white walls, are also well preserved in the village. During the autumn, the villagers always dry their crops, such as corn and hot pepper, which have become a highlight for the ancient village. In addition, the village has been recently honored with the title "China's Most Beautiful Symbol".

The village is surrounded by enchanting scenery the whole year round. In spring, the ribbon-like terraces are covered with golden rape flowers, hailed by netizens as one of the top 10 most beautiful terraces in the world.

In summer, the towering old trees, stone-paved paths and winding creeks drive away the summer heat. Every autumn, the flaming maple leaves and harvested crops on roofs constitute a spectacle for the village, while it also enjoys enormous natural beauty with white snow in winter.

Spring is well and truly upon us; this is the optimum time to marvel at the wondrous landscape surrounding Huangling Village.

The hamlet in Wuyuan County of east China's Jiangxi Province, captivates crowds with its spectacular terraced rapeseed blossom fields, Anhui-style farm houses and heart-shaped pond.

Though it wasn't always like this.

The village has a 580-year history dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). However, by the end of 2008 it was dilapidated and falling into ruins.

Action was needed.

In 2009, the local government pooled private investments to develop rural tourism and transform the village into a resort. Locals swapped their shabby farmhouses for new buildings, offered by Wuyuan Folk Culture Development Company. These farm houses, atop of the terraced mountains, were renovated into shops, restaurants and hotels.

Villagers are employed to work on the resort and also to showcase a traditional folk custom, known as shaiqiu. This involves baking farm produce, such as corn and chili peppers, in the Autumn sunshine and is considered one of the most interesting Chinese folk practices.

With a record high 30,000 tourists in a single day and a plethora of visitors, the village has become the place to go in Wuyuan County. From the grim days of 2008 to the present, the turnaround has been extraordinary.

Ancient Hui-style Architectures in Wuyuan
Wuyuan County firstly built during the Tang Dynasty is actually one of the originating locations of the ancient Huizhou culture. So the second highlight of Huangling Village is the well-preserved Hui-style architectures. Typical Hui-style architectures feature classic black roof tiles and white walls.

The whole Huangling Village is built on very rugged terrain. Here you’ll see many Hui-style residences rise along the steep slope. You actually have to take a cable car in order to get to the village.

Take a random stroll you’ll find historical celebrity residence, ancestral hall, ancient wedding houses and old school in Hui-style. Pay attention on the details such as the exquisite wood carvings on the facade. Besides, enjoy the Hui-style arches, stone tablets and bridges around. Those architectures combine with the surrounding trees and creeks forming a typical Chinese countryside scene. You can imagine the tranquil and relaxed countryside life here.

past few days, Huangling Village in Wuyuan, Jiangxi has officially launched the "sun autumn" mode.

The aunts in the village cleaned and cut freshly picked red peppers, yellow corn and other fruits and vegetables, and then dried them with bamboo plaques on their windowsill drying racks. This has followed the agricultural traditions of hundreds of years and the Huizhou folk houses of the ancient village. Complementing each other is interesting, and the picture shows this beautiful autumn harvest picture in front of me.

　　The tourism industry is vigorously developed on the basis of the protection of ancient villages. Now, the average annual income of villagers in Huangling Village is more than 30,000 yuan.
