The third and last of my Madeira videos takes us East, to Canical, where there is a rather iconic rock formation, known as Elephant Rock. Renato picked us up at the hotel an hour and a half before sunrise, so I had plenty of time to pick my way carefully in the dark down to the shore. It was only about 500m distance, but dropped almost 200m in height. I found a little ledge to set up on and wait for the sun to appear.

Renato then took me to another spot where I got my favourite image of 2021 - a 9 shot pano of the amazing red cliffs from the Miradouro de Sao Vicente!
