Britton Hill, Florida may be the lowest state highpoint in the country but that isn't the only thing that makes this highpoint standout. Florida is known more for its sandy beaches, not elevation. By several measures the Sunshine States is not only the flattest state, but also the "flattest looking" state. Despite this there is more here than meets the eye. The elevation that it does have has both an interesting geological and political history.
Throughout its history as a Spanish colony Florida's highpoint has shifted several times. Through the centuries as the territory was slowly whittled down by wars, occupations, and treaties the highpoint slowly moved to its present location. If you decide to pursue this highpoint you'll find it tucked away in the panhandle of the state, just one mile south of Florida's northern border with Alabama. Reaching the monument is just a short walk from the parking lot, but if you decide to go find the actual topographic highpoint you'll have to venture a bit further into the woods nearby. Join us as we explore America and go highpointing!

(Update: the meters on the Just the Facts card should read 105! (Thanks to Ryan Hall for the catch!))
