Furnas is the volcanic activity of the island: The valley of Furnas is one of the richest hydrologic regions in Europe. We can see the boiling hot waters bubbling and we can smell the sulphur. Lunch of the day is a cavern stew called Cozido das Furnas, which takes approximately six hours to cook in the heat of the volcanic earth. During this full day tour we also visit the tea plantations and its factory where we get to see the traditional way of producing tea. The tea plantations on the North coast of Sao Miguel are the only ones in Europe.
On Lagoa do Fogo & Sete Cidades tour we get to visit the two famous crater lakes. Sete Cidades with its twin lakes were voted of the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal in 2010. Lagoa do Fogo captures its spectators with its breath taking views of the 'Fire Lake' and on a clear day you can see great view of the whole island, up in 900 meters. Besides visiting the crater lakes, tourists have a chance to purchase local products such as ceramics and liquors, and you get to taste the liquors. We also get to know the process of pineapple cultivation while visiting a pineapple plantation. At Caldeira Velha there is a swimming possibility in a warm water fall.
