Portugal's natural wonder - Portas de Ródão - Maravilha natural de Portugal - 4K Ultra HD

The “Portas de Ródão” are the natural ex-libris of Vila Velha de Ródão and Nisa, where the Tagus, the most important river in the Iberian Peninsula, runs entrenched between quartzite giants.
In addition to the strong impact on the region's geomorphology, the Tagus has assumed, for thousands of years, great relevance for the human occupation of this territory.
The “Portas de Ródão” also houses the largest Holocene Rock Art Complex in the Iberian Peninsula, which brings together more than 25,000 engravings carved into the schist, an expression of a mystical-religious activity notable in prehistory. Some engravings can still be visited in the Cachão de S. Simão, in Gardete and at the mouth of the Ocreza river.

As “Portas de Ródão” constituem o ex-libris natural de Vila Velha de Ródão e Nisa, onde o Tejo, o mais importante rio da Península Ibérica, corre entrincheirado entre gigantes quartzíticos.
Além do forte impacto na geomorfologia da região, o Tejo assumiu durante milhares de anos grande relevância para a ocupação humana deste território.
Nas “Portas de Ródão” situa-se ainda o maior Complexo de Arte Rupestre holocénica da Península Ibérica, que reúne mais de 25 mil gravuras picotadas nos xistos, expressão de uma actividade místico-religiosa notável na Pré-História. Algumas gravuras são ainda visitáveis no Cachão de S. Simão, em Gardete e na foz do rio Ocreza.
