Montemor-o-Velho Castle
Dominant over the valley where the Mondego runs, with rice fields as far as the eye can see, the village of Montemor-o-Velho is crowned by its imposing castle, the main fortress of Baixo Mondego in medieval times. This extensive territory has been successively occupied since Roman times, and when the Arabs settled here in the 8th century, the lands of Montemor were constantly seen as a space of heated disputes between Muslims and Christians. After the Christian reconquest and Portuguese independence, Montemor-o-Velho and its majestic fortress were the scene of countless events in the history of Portugal. Defender of the dominating valley and the river that fertilizes it, the stones of this castle housed kings and children, being indelibly linked to legends born from the imaginative popular tradition.

Paul do Taipal
It is located in the low Mondego alluvial plain, close to
Montemor-o-Velho, was once occupied by the
rice growing. In the mid-1970s, when
construction of the current National Road nº.111, the
drainage ditches were interrupted, transforming
this space in a flooding area, causing the
abandonment of agriculture and its occupation by
vegetation typical of wetlands. This paul is
mostly occupied by reeds and some
bunho and reed. The ditches are occupied by
white gulf and the arboreal stratum is constituted by
willows and alders.

Castelo de Montemor-o-Velho
Dominante sobre o vale onde corre o Mondego, com campos de arrozais a perder de vista, a vila de Montemor-o-Velho está coroada pelo seu imponente castelo, a principal fortaleza do Baixo Mondego na época medieval.Este extenso território tem sido sucessivamente ocupado desde a época romana, e quando os árabes aqui se estabeleceram no século VIII, as terras de Montemor viram-se constantemente como espaço de acesas disputas entre muçulmanos e cristãos. Depois da Reconquista cristã e da independência portuguesa, Montemor-o-Velho e a sua majestosa fortaleza foram cenário de inúmeros acontecimentos da história de Portugal. Defensor do vale que domina e do rio que o fertiliza, as pedras deste castelo albergaram reis e infantas, ficando indelevelmente ligadas a lendas nascidas da imaginativa tradição popular.

Paul do Taipal
Situa-se na planície aluvial do Baixo Mondego, próximo à
vila de Montemor-o-Velho, foi outrora ocupado pela
orizicultura. Em meados da década de 1970, aquando
da construção da actual Estrada Nacional nº.111, as
valas de drenagem foram interrompidas, transformando
este espaço numa área de alagamento, provocando o
abandono da agricultura e a sua ocupação pela
vegetação típica de zonas húmidas. Este paul está
ocupado na sua grande maioria por caniço e por algum
bunho e junco. As valas estão ocupadas por
golfão-branco e o estrato arbóreo é constituído por
salgueiros e amieiros.
