This is a little video I put together after a trip to Tavira on the Algarve, Portugal. I was partly inspired to visit Tavira after hearing the song 'Tavira Girl' by Mark Humphries, who sadly died in 2015. Many in Cardiff would know Mark as the classical guitarist that played on the Hayes, filling the air of the Christmas market with fingerpicked renditions of carols and Christmassy tunes that added an atmosphere that topped off the experience of going to Cardiff City Center at Christmas.

As we arrived in Tavira and walked from the train station my partner Hâf spotted a pink peppercorn tree, and I filmed them swaying in the wind. I remembered the beautiful line from the song "Small talk over chocolate milk in the shade of pink peppercorn trees". As we got to the bridge I remembered the line "Hanging out by the old Roman bridge to the beat of an African drum", noticing the Moorish influence in the architecture around us. When we got to our b&b and sat on our balcony we saw and heard "the bells toll on the top of the hill".

We listened to the song on my phone and and the words made us appreciate and look out for the small details of Tavira - and listening to the sounds of the many street musicians who were gathering small appreciative crowds in the sun I understood, perhaps, why a street musician would love Tavira so much. So I felt compelled to film what I saw and collage it over the song, for my own amusement, to learn some video editing and out of pure tribute to the beauty of Tavira and the song.

The song is up on https://soundcloud.com/woodbinestreet/tavira-girl-mark-humphries where the description reads "Recorded totally live just a couple of weeks prior to the lovely Mark Humphries, (of Cakehole Presley), departing this life. What a beautiful song to leave behind."
