House of the Dragon, prequel to Game of Thrones, will be partially filmed in Portugal. The historic village of Monsanto, in the municipality of Idanha-a-nova, was the setting chosen by the producers of the series. Monsanto Castle looks perfectly like Westeros. Perched atop a hill, it's a medieval fortress complete with walled courtyards, bombing raids, arched gates and more. #portugaltourism #houseofthedragon #gameofthrones
