DISCOVER THE AZORES AND MADEIRA ISLANDS | Travel Couple

During our travels, we love to explore the lesser-known, hidden gems of the world. This time we chose a group of islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean - literally. Often referred to as the “Hawaii of Europe,” the Azores Islands are located in the mid-Atlantic and are an autonomous region of Portugal. We visited the largest island, São Miguel, and were instantly mesmerized by the beautiful lakes, hot springs, mountains, and green pastures, accompanied by warm people and some of the most delicious food we have ever tried.

After the Azores Islands, we made our way to explore another larger island, called Madeira. The volcanic island of Madeira, also an autonomous region of Portugal, is located off the northwest coast of Africa. With the warmer climate, we were able to do some canyoning, hike through high cliffs and valleys as well as relax in the beautiful sun.
