The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Abadia is an 18th century Marian sanctuary located a few kilometers from Santa Maria de Bouro, on a mountain where beautiful waterfalls run.
The Sanctuary is composed of chapels of via-sacra, church, cruise, fountains and buildings of support to the pilgrims. The church has three naves, separated by arcades all around set in Tuscan columns.
Legend has it that the Virgin Mary image that had disappeared during the Arab invasion would have been found by Friar Lourenço on a boulder after the appearance of a light indicating its location.
There is a route that passes through the site of the apparition of the image of the Virgin Mary, a medieval bridge and several little chapels. There are several picnic areas and a museum.
